Default Car alarm keeps going off~~

Hi All~~

Am in need of bit of help..
My Rover 75 sounds the alarm when the car is locked, but nothing's hit it.. I don't think it's because of low battery, as I keep it topped up.

I was wondering if the T4 might be able to shed some light on why it's happening??

If so, is anyone with a T4 free this weekend as I'm going away next weekend, and I don't want to have to leave it unlocked~~
😣😖😣😖

Am based in the South East but willing to travel within reason~

Thank you in advance!!

If you lock it with the key it should not activate the alarm function

Alarm still functions for bonnet, boot and doors.

From the driver's manual:
With the key:
1. Insert the key and turn the door lock towards the rear of
the car:
• all doors locked (not superlocked)
• perimetric alarm activated (protects the doors, bonnet and boot)
• NO INTERIOR SPACE PROTECTION

Had the same issue with mine and removing the bonnet switch cured it but I haven't replaced it as yet. I would try just disconnecting it first, see if that works, before removing anything.

You can always disconnect the horn (inside the plenum near the pollen filter) until you find the cause.

As some have said most likely culprit is damp or corrosion in the bonnet switch
Had it on redfive. Just a clean sorted it.
Cheers Ian

As above, water may have gotten into the bonnet switch with all the rain we had last night.

Otherwise it could be water ingress into the EWS unit, its above the accelerator pedal behind the kick panel next to the sunroof drain hole, that's if you have a sunroof.

Red face

Doesn't the instrument panel indicate the source of the alarm, when the car is unlocked ?

It could be phantom wiper operation. That will activate the alarm.
