Puzzled If its this one you are referring to, the dealer isn't a car dealer, they trade in motorhomes, campers etc. The 75 doesn't figure on their own website in any way.

They used to be car dealers, bought a Volvo from them quite a few years ago but they've been dealing exclusively in motorhomes and campers for a long time now.

Probably gave about 500 quid for it as a part ex. on a motor home then.

Even a less than streetwise owner would hopefully know that a 20 year old modern classic with hardly enough miles on the clock to be considered as run in is worth considerably more than minimum trade.

Perhaps its owner got a fair part exchange allowance but the dealer is being a bit opportunistic by trying for a quick buck.

Its been on Autotrader for a good couple of weeks now.

Over the top price for a low rent spec car - think it might be on Autotrader a few weeks more.

This car has the rare cloth Neptune Blue Personal Line interior. It's also had only one owner over 20 years which is a plus. The dash is real burr walnut rather than the later plastic version and it has climate control air conditioning and the smooth V6 engine with automatic transmission. I'd say it's a very nice car on the face of it and worth considering by anyone looking for a pre-Project Drive petrol Rover 75. As for the asking price, well, as we all know a car is worth what someone wants to pay for it. I'm sure that the seller is open to negotiation.

Default Trader Schmader X-D

"the dealer isn't a car dealer, they trade in motorhomes, campers etc."

I was using the legal distinction; a trader buys and sells cars, and thus only subject to hard-to-enforce legal responsibilities* whereas a dealer can be held to contractual account: finance, warranty and quality. Hence me using 'trader' here.

Does anyone know why there'd be no MOT history before 2005?

*by the way has anyone tried to do that recently? Last time I tired it was basically "oh no sir, no trading standards department anymore, it's DIY...phone Citizen's Advice and they'll give you a link to download some letters. The trader then has forever to completely ignore you". Or in my case get a London gangster lawyer to threaten you

I digress. Could that club be worth something as a show piece only, to someone who likes trailering cars around...but only IF the history gap can be explained? I would speculate that mechanically outside of the engine it would need a lot of attention. 20 years of metal doing what metal does, inside or out, must mean the book is not a s the cover.

It's not sinister Paul. I think that's when the MOT tests were computerised and DVLA didn't enter historic information which previously was on paper.

Indeed, our 2001 75 has no online MOT history prior to November 05.
