Default Which axle stands to choose for a R75?

Hi,

searching online makes me get a little bit confused when it comes to which axle stands to choose.

I see different prices for more or less the same axle stands I guess.

My questions;

Do I need to buy 3 ton or 6 ton axle stands for more security?
I would like them with an extra safety pin. Which height is the proper one? I am planning to work under the car for changing oil brakes etc. so thinking about minimum 40 cm to 60 cm height?

Does it matter which brand I choose? Is there a certificate check like the German TUV that classifies them more safe than others?

Currently I am looking at these ones:

Any advice is welcome, thanks in advance.

Regards, Emiel

I would of said that 3 tonne stands would be more than enough to work on our cars.

I agree with Ched, 3 Tonne should be enough, the car is no where near 3 tonne. I have a pair of Halfords stands.

I place them under the sill jacking pad but have shaped a block of wood to go into the "jaws" of the axle stand so they do not did into the body of the car.

The Halfords 3 ton as suggested are more than man enough for any under car task, I got 4 for £24 in a sale and I would recommend them for our cars. I stick removed wheels under the car just incase and I've not been flattened yet

I have often thought of buying some, but don't know where to place them under the car. Has anyone a graphic which would help?

I place them under the jacking pads, do you need pictures of where the jacking pads are?

3 tonne will be just fine. I've been using 2 tonne stands on mine and I'm still here typing away. TUV too....from Lidl

I have to disagree the 6 tonne stands are a better purchase. You can get them higher if you need to do some jobs under the car and because the legs are wider it is so much more stable.

With some shopping around you should be able to pick up a set of 4 for about £60 delivered.

I'm ok with the jacking points, it's where to place axle stands if the car has been lifted on the jacking points; or, if the stands are to be placed at the jacking points where to place the jack and will the supplied jack be sufficient?
