First car wanted
Hi chaps
My son is turning 17 on 1st March and is very keen to l ran to drive and own his first car. I have already taken him to an industrial estate car park and he got clutch control in first lesson with me, only stalling once in my Connie CDTI tourer. I am looking for a cheap car for him, say up to £750. Low insurance group etc. Do any of you have one for sale within say 50 miles of Stroud, Gloucestershire? |

Would this do?
https://www.gumtree.com/p/mg/mg-rove...ew-/1286621069 Slightly more than £750, but I'm sure you could get it for less.

Hint - add as many people to his policy as you can - it goes down enormously.

It is very tempting but first car is going to have to be something more mundane, Citroen C1 or 2, Ford Fiesta, Vauxhall Corsa, VW Polo or similar. Insurance group 1 to 9 . He is doing A levels so insurance policy can my wife as main driver and son as additional driver whilst he learns to drive, which also makes it cheaper, we have got it down to about £550 third party fire and theft with Tesco. I have searched all the usual sources , eBay, autotrader, gumtree and posting on here in case anyone has as family car about to be sold or part exchanged. Hard to find in garage as all the p ex cars going into dealers end up at auction or some other middle man as dealers don't want the hassle is selling them. |

Hi, when my son was learning we bought a Ford KA, he found it really easy to control also, I had the car on my own insurance and he could then buy a learner policy from Collingwood. We paid £42 per month for his fully comp learner policy however, has to be cancelled once past the test. Good value compared to driving lessons at £25 per hour etc..

A pal of mine has a 1.2 Corsa for sale on an 07 plate.
No idea of details or price but I will see him tomorrow so I'll ask. It's in Dorset so outside of your 50 mile radius.. Cheers Ian
