Default Registration plates.

Been stopped by the police and advised plates are incorrect as they have no bs stamp and need to be changed.
So I'm after a new pair I see some members have got them with the mg logo etc are these legal? As I quite like the look but don't fancy getting pulled over for them again.

My rear plate (Hardridden) has no BS markings either, it does have 75&ZT Owners Club along the bottom though. Maybe next time I'm stopped I'll get the same treatment. A bit picky on their part though don't you think?

Simply ask him to add postcode and BS mark, as I did.

Really, I assume you blew negative so they gave your car the once over? Did they issue you with a defect notice? If not I wouldn't worry about it.

I must admit number plate "irregularities" especially "show plates" on the road annoy me (must be a middle age thing ) but to pick out the lack of BS marking they must have been really desperate that day!
on the other hand it shows you how good your car is

Doesn't sound like they gave him a ticket or a Vehicle Defect Rectification Scheme notice, only some advice, and the OP is taking it on board and resolving it. As for just ignoring it, well, rules are there for everyone, police don't make them it's just their job to make sure that they are followed. If people want to run with plates they know aren't legal then ti's up to them, but they can't complain next time they are stopped by a bobby in a bad mood and get given a ticket.

FYI Plates with manufacturers logos on them are not legal for road use. See Page 11 of this document from the DLVA: https://www.gov.uk/government/upload...104_160914.pdf

Hardridden offers a great service and his plates are generally excellent but having had 2 sets, am I alone in thinking that the black digits on the White front plate are not jet black but rather grey, thus to my eyes spoiling what is otherwise a very nice set of plates.
