1300 miles... only 2 other Rovers ... where is everyone? !-)
Hello all,
We just arrived back from a 1300 mile trip. Stevenage to York, then Edinburgh, Perth, Inverness, Loch Ness, Aviemore, Ingleton and back home. I saw one '75 saloon, who exchanged waves and a flash of headlights, and one '75 Tourer who didn't in the first couple of hours, and NO other '75's or ZT's at all! Where are they all?? Perhaps our cars are now mainly hobby / 2nd cars, like mine, and not used often as everyday or motorway mile munchers. I know some are, but I'm really surprised I didn't see at least a few more on our tour. Really chuffed the V6 didn't miss a beat. Trip computer showed 42.1mpg when I arrived back, and that after being fully loaded up and Aircon on a lot. Yes Aircon was needed even in Scotland the past week or so! When I fill up next I can check the brim to brim mpg. Will be interesting to see what it actually was - 2001 2.5 V6 Auto Saloon. A lot of motorway miles driven on cruise at an indicated 75 (see what I did there?! ) Happy Roving all .... well, there must be some on the road somewhere.... Cheers f'now John

That's a great trip glad you enjoyed it, 75s are like a lot of cars they just seem to disappear overnight like the rover 600/800 Cavaliers and Sierra did

That's a very impressive fuel consumption figure. I'm enjoying the manual V6 I bought off Rick. It's become my daily. Just approaching 143k but feels solid like it has the potential to qualify for a moon medal, (though probably not with me lol). However, I'm seeing more like 24mpg. I need to investigate, but the opportunity hasn't presented itself to deliver the needed tlc. I see a lot of 75's and ZT's in the deep southwest around Redruth and Camborne. Just spotted a nice 75 in the Truro Enterprise car/van rental depot, which reminds me, I meant to deliver a club flyer. Apparently the lad who owns it works there and 'loves the car'.

Went to the Waterwheel Meet on Sunday was. 216 mile round trip. On the trip it gave out 35.3 mpg. Mostly 80 mph on m/way, and kept up with most traffic on A38 coming back. Will brim the tank when weather cools down, and see what it has really done.

My ZT CDTI of 2005 vintage is my daily hack at 25k miles each and every year. Getting quite rare to see a ZT /75 these days i'm afraid.

My 75 is my daily and at just over 104,000 miles is still as solid as a rock and showing no signs of slowing down.
I too rarely see 75s and ZTs while out and about. Although having said that the other week I saw 3 within 20 minutes or so. When there's one coming the other way I always flash and/or wave if I see it in time but I've only had a couple of people respond. There are 3 75s (that I know of) in my village. Mine, an 04 reg Contemporary in Starlight Silver and a Grey 55 reg Contemporary. There is also a very low mileage P6 tucked away in a garage, which was bought new by the owner's father. |

Well, 5 are in my yard, plus one daily driver (ZT V6 auto) which lives on the road outside. I am hoping I have enough to see me out, but still peruse the ads most days. In fact latest purchase only 3 weeks ago - a plate 53 Club SE diesel auto with a genuine 44,000 on the clock. Couldn't resist!
