Default Banging noise from the rear

The other day I was fiddling with the parking ECU to try and sort the constant beep out , and ever since then I have had a banging/knocking noise from the rear o/s.
Went to work today for a meeting and on the way noticed the noise was becoming more frequent.
Looked at the rear wheel , oh dear
Rear arms sooner than later.

I had one go just like it .. Ended up on a flatbed and killed the tyre on the way to get the arm replaced.

At least 7 months since the mot , and as we all know it's never that rusty until it breaks, its been driven on for 3 days which is why it looks that bad.
Take the old sill panels , it's only ever a small hole until you start prodding it then it becomes a cavern , so I wouldn't blame the mot station that quick.
Tha other side looks fine but if I start prodding that about I'm guessing that would be holed too.

I just got an advisory on the mot and when he showed me it is split in 5 or 6 places.

I was taking this into consideration also. Is this not meant to be a fail?

Not if it's not letting in dirt or letting grease escape , which was the case hence the advisory
