It's the corrosion that's holding what's left of the bolt in - the hub itself isn't threaded for the lower bolt. A good soaking in Plus Gas or similar and a punch and hammer might knock it out.

Again if you can get a blow torch on the bolt end (wrap a wet rag around the driveshaft gaitor) get it good and hot it will expand a bit and when cooled down loosen up.

I've had a bit of luck with freezing release oil spray in a similar situation - with the hub warmed up spray the bolt and it cools and shrinks a bit.

You can get it out complete with the lower arm, but you'll probably find the top hub bolt is harder to get out than the bottom.

I certainly did.

Another method is to use this puller which had my tapered balljoint released in one minute (after the fiddly setting up process, the top of the subframe isn't flat but sloping).

It's very reasonably priced too.

Last post was is over 8years old, think it would have been sorted before now!
