Today did an Oil Change ( Redex10/40 Semi Synthetic - picked up few weeks ago £6.50 for 2 litres from Tesco - got 4).
Changed the oil filter - all good Changed air filter - (other day) and replaced the PCV filter, which I suspect was on the original (123,493 miles) - as date on filter is 11/2001!!! also gasket/seals had BMW on the little tags. Only had car a month yesterday..... fuel filter & other jobs to do, so now will get the TLC she deserves Cheers Maurice |

Loads of waxoyle in the rear arches, refitted the liners, removed the rear discs and cleaned them up with a twisted wire brush in the angle grinder, then checked and adjusted the handbrake shoes.
Rear wheels were then refitted, the car jacked up to allow the axle stands to be replace by ramps, then the axle stands were transferred to the front, and the front brakes cleaned up and lubricated. I then refitted the sill end trims and secured the front arch liners, and finally refitted the wheels, and set the car back on it's wheels........the first time since the 8th of July !! On to the next job, thermostat replacement, and replace the antifreeze with Prestone long life HOAT. All bled up correctly, I felt it time to reacquaint myself with the car, so after scrubbing the signs of my labours from my mitts, I cautiously took her out for a little spin. Lovely smooth and quiet, brakes pull up straight and no knocks or rattles, tomorrows job is to book her in for an MOT and see how she fares. I'm a little stiff and achy, but hopefully it will be worth it !! |

I took the mud flaps off today and replaced them with the trim pieces, although they do their job extremely well they also harbour an enormous amount of debris, subsequently leading to rust damage.

I did have mudflaps on my first ZT and I tended to find they kept getting scuffed on the ramp into the garage or car park I used and ended up marking the paint on the wings. Shame, as the mud flaps do actually stop all the debris getting thrown up the doors in wet weather. |

Looks much better without the mudflaps, I removed the ones fitted to my car as they scraped the floor and had caused the wing to rust badly.
They had also caused the spire nut to be torn from the wheel arch liners.........this is especially annoying as the liners for my car are different to standard front ones (premium bumper) |
