Here's a good news story then for a change

I had the car repaired and serviced - which whilst it was £1800, was an easy spend!!!

My wife told me I was an idiot.
The garage told me I was an idiot.

But I think it's only money!

One owner from new, 165000 miles!!

I'll post a list of what's been done, however the garage where amazing, for those asking, I used Autocars in Willerby.

Really, I wonder why? I doubt that you could buy a better car than your Rover 75 for £1,800.

I was in exactly the same predicament as you a few weeks back as to should i keep it or sell the old car. As you say £1500 nowadays on a another car doesn't buy you a lot. They just seem to be the usual dreary humdrum euro boxes with lots of hidden problems..
Take a step back, grab your breath and try to not look at the cars problems as a whole picture. Just priorities the problems and work though them one at a time accepting that all cars costs money along the way. At the end of it you will still have a lovely classic looking car the stands out from the greyness of other brands and is sorted out mechanically as well. All the very best

Exactly, sounds like your wife and the garage are challenged at sums. With all that work on the car there's a lot of mies left in it for a cheap £1,800 for which you could get...
... A Eurobox shed that needs a similar amount spending on it on top of the purchase price: and still won't be anywhere near as nice to drive. Even if you only get 2 years more out of it it's cheap motoring.f

Haha, I'm thinking of the investment in terms of a slow rebuild

Simon asked why, the main reason is we've owned the car since new for 16 years and like it!

Drove lovely this morning!!
