Default Garage Door

Hi' doe's anyone on here have any experience of painting a galvanized garage door with Hammerite direct to galvanize paint? Stripped the door right back thought it would be an easy afternoons work to paint the garage door, the paint was dragging like tar the finish was awful so have stripped it off. If anyone has some good advice I am all ears.

Old school - prime with calcium plumbate, light rub with very fine grit wet/dry and then paint as normal - undercoat and top coat.
Alternatively spray with etching primer then the usual steps with regular paint.

You will need to use T Wash before painting galvanised metal.
