I don't have a musical bone in my body but my son is an accomplished, self taught guitarist who plays with a busy rock covers band - mainly around Essex and Suffolk. His instrument is an Ibanez RG652AHMFX-NGB Prestige, which means little to me other than it's a green guitar.

Hi Lancpudn
I was warned about guitar acquisition syndrome - looks like you got a bad case... Like you my first electric was an Epiphone Les Paul. I've put Wilkinson PUs in it and messed around with the electrics as you do. Still got it. Cherry sunburst. Got a tobacco Vintage Les Paul clone and a Crafter hollowed out solid body. Acoustics: A cheap Aria and Crafter, both solid tops with quite different tones, and a Martin HD28 and then we get on to the amps... |

This is my baby:
A heavily modified Strat, not to look at but internally, same electrical set up and tonal circuitry as used by Ritchle Blackmore. One of the friends I made in the guitar game was the late great Dawk Stillwell, the guy who built Blackmore's guitars and helped develop his sound back in the '70s. I developed my guitar work skills as a member of his forum and it was him who said I was good enough to make money at it. Even though we became good friends he was very secretive about what was going on under the scratchplate of Blackmore's guitars, made me work it out for myself and only confirmed it once I'd done so. I have another, Olympic White, Strat, a Columbus ES335 and a bass. I rarely play these days though, paying the price for parting company with a motorbike in my youth. Badly damaged my left wrist and that's come back to haunt me in the form of arthritis now. |

I have a Fenix thinline telecaster copy, i'm sure many guitarists out there know the story behind these - the guy who made them used to work for Fender & basically built the same guitar until Fender got the solicitors in!!! They are quite rare & i bought mine new somewhere in the late 80's. I have tried all sorts of different makes but i always end up back with old & trusty.

It is got a Sweet action and plays like a dream.. it’s a second run red special, strung up with optimum gold plates strings... it’s a long story how I acquired her, with matching Brian May vox amp unopened in box.. unfortunately I’ve lost the use of 3 fingers on my right hand, and left is a bit arthritic..
