I once owned a ford escort before numbers were fashionable reg TWO5S.
Sold car with plate for £250. Looked up cherished number plates TWO2C,£3,700.

I have an old car with a one digit number. I had the numberplate priced by a well known 'plate swopper' a couple of years ago. I was told it was worth just over£3000. I have still got it because I know he runs his Bentley on the money he makes from selling these, but not mine thank you.

I did just this around 5 years ago, with a plate which "spells" my initials and surname, and it's an 11 plate - still on retention now as our car is a 2008 and won't be able to get an 11 plate or newer for a while yet!

Local car I have seen many times over the last few years has the numberplate 'T8'.
The car is a green Alfa Romero 147. Plate must be worth many times the value of the car.

My grandfather had a car, given to me, when it died, with the reg ADZ 488. Back in the late 90's I was offered by a local plate transfer company, £400 for it. The car was scrapped with it unfortunately, as the cost of getting a non mot'd/taxed car taken to a tax office for verification (for retention) was more than I could afford at the time. It would be the only number I would consider now. In a few years, MGZ plates will be due out. Imagine, MGZ 7260, MGZ 7190 etc. or MGZ 5, MGZ 5180 . Remember they will be transferable to locally registered cars . I believe you would then be able to buy the car and take it with registration to England.
