Today is not a good day!
My ZTT went for MOT today.... and failed big time... to a point It is more financially to buy something else (going to look at 1.4 Rover 25 this afternoon).
Seven items on the fail sheet mainly to do with brakes (hand & foot), exhaust .... here is the list; 001 Parking Brake: effeiciency below requirements (3.7.B.7) 002 Brakes imbalanced across an axle rear (Axle 2) (3.7.B.5b) 003 Exhaust has a Major leak of Exhaust Gases central front (7.1.2) 004 Headlamp aim beam image obviously incorrect offside front (1.8.A.1b) 005 Rear brake recording little or no effort nearside rear (3.7.B.5a) 006 Rear brake recording little or no effort nearside rear (3.7.B.5a) - Handbrake 007 Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content at idle excessive (7.3.D.4) was told excessive smoke was reason for emissions, tester said was first LPG converted car he has had to fail. Also mentioned about brake callipers needing replacing?? I am guessing all this is going to be costly to sort out, also don't have time, money etc as need a car for work/family stuff etc.... and also getting pressure from wife to move it on and get something smaller. so I will probably be posting for sale later today in for sale section. So I now need another car... so going to downsize a bit so eldest can learn to drive in a couple of years... going to see a 1.4 Rover 25 this afternoon, 66,000 miles, don't know about if belts or head gasket been done or any service history .. but will check... does look in good condition up for sale for£750. Feeling a bit "cheesed off" as only had LPG in from March this year, and still paying for it. Maurice |

Hi Maurice,
Looks like a big list there but really nothing major and should not cost too much! Neil |

Seems to me a few fairly simple adjustments and possibly a calliper renovation is all that is needed
Exhausts do not last forever - sadly! |

Wear and tear as with any car, it is to be expected. Shouldn't cost a fortune to have put right. Get it done you know it makes sense

Nothing to bad in the list. Get it fixed, makes more sense since you have just had lpg fitted.

I'd definitely encourage you to go for the fix. Apart from the exhaust and whatever is causing the emissions issue, everything else can probably be sorted by adjustment and maintenace. Sounds like a sticking piston on the nearside rear brake - get that free and it should cure the imbalance at the same time.

That is quite a light fail sheet. Handbrake compensator and give rear brakes a coat of looking at. If you have stumped up for a LPG kit I would stick with is as it really should not be too expensive to get that through MOT.

If you can stretch to £750 for a replacement car - that could (would) end up costing more - why not fix the 75 ? I doubt what's on your fail will cost anywhere near £750 to rectify
Exhausts for these can be purchased for little expense - and (i assume it's LPG and can still run petrol) a dose or two of Redex could possibly sort the emissions. Paul. Last edited by Sheraton; 24th November 2016 at 15:32.. |

I agree that those things, even though add up to the fail, are easy and inexpensive to repair, bar the exhaust
But, you should be able to sort that east enough as well! Don't give up, fixing those and keeping the car going will be a lot better than a 1.4 R25, believe me! |
