Hi David, it was the original I had to drill out.... I'm going to try to remove the new one next weekend and try filing a bit off the fixing lug, so it sits deeper into the holder, it's not an OEM.... failing that I'll just have to go through the tests until I solve it...... no speedo and a wonky fuel gauge for me this week!
Thanks for the advice all... :-) ( And the links )

I don't think this would have any effect on the magnetism .. but who knows!
Thanks for the pointers so far...

Having attended two this week, just make sure that the sensor is fully home, even 1mm out and the sensor will not work. inside the hole at the bottom is a very small retaining bit in the hub on the outer side, ensure that the rust is removed from here too. Also sometimes you think it is fully home, and it is not

Also ensure the mating faces are clean, i used some sandpaper ans a wide blde screw driver to clean the hub side, (there may be an earthing requirement?) but i am not sure) so don't quote me on that one, but the face needs to be clean too - it does affect some cars maybe not ours

just from my experience this week.

Forgot to update my thread and say thanks.... I couldn't get the ABS light off, so as I has a new wheel bearing tucked away, I had a local garage change it, along with another new ABS cable! Problem solved for £80 labour inc, so not to bad. EXCEPT

When I pulled into the garage early in the morning I clipped my rear drivers door on a parked car trailer = 2 deep indents and scratches onto the door & wheel arch as well

Car going back to said garage next Monday for fix & panel spray... more Wonga gone

Default More Abs woes....

Back in February I had problems with my ABS light, eventually I had a garage replace the drivers front wheel bearing & cable ( at least I think they replaced the wheel bearing!), all OK until a couple of weeks ago...
My speedo started to work intermittently, then my ABS light came on again.
Now I have no speedo, a permanent ABS light and am miffed!
I replaced the ABS cable today, but the light has not gone out and the speedo is still dead... and unlike the last time, I extracted the old lead without damaging it and having to drill out the remains! so no chance of damaging the bearing ......any suggestions on what I might check?
Advice appreciated as always..... thanks ( MG ZT CDTi )

Highly unlikely. To do that you have to drill through the outer race, as I see it.
Even if the OP was not be the smartest tool in the shed, he would have to be rather stupid to do that.
