Default Not a Rover, But MOT Pass at Nearly 17 Years of Age

Well, my Omega (2.5 v6 auto estate) will be 17 yeas old in September and has just passed its MOT again.

Three advisories:

1. Brake pipes staring to corrode - have been getting this one for 3 years as I clean and coat the pipes in Waxoyl every year.

2. Slight oil leak - it's had a tiny leak from the oil filter cannister area for around 4 years but doesn't lose any amount of oil.

3. Front brake discs worn on inside edge.

The tester's verbal comment - I feel that I should put those advisories on as they are factually correct but there's nothing to worry about. He thought I would still be driving the car around in three years time with normal servicing.

I do feel that meticulous maintenance during a car's life really pays in terms of reliability and longevity.

It still puts a huge smile on my face everytime that I take it for a drive. Drives and feels like a £25k car rather than the <£1k that would be its market value.

A very good car in its time, I had a 2.5 CDX Manual Estate15 years ago and always amazed at its combination of speed, comfort and economy. Its only down side was the cam belt, I had it done at the recommended time but within 18 months it was making some odd noises so had it done again.

Most have rusted out so you have done well to keep yours this long.
