Having the right power tools to hand makes an enormous difference too.--Plus having done the job before reduces thinking time.
There are lots of more complicated repair jobs that have taken me some time to do but even if they come up some years later they then get done so much faster.-- |

To be honest it was 1 guy doing it and another gave him a hand lifting the gearbox up. So it was 1 guy apart from the lifting of a gearbox to head height, which is understandable as it isn't a light thing. So 1 guy at 2 hours and 1 guy at about 10 minutes.

Well i have got to ask how much did they charge ? 2 Hours labour say 100-120 plus clutch kit 200-230.00 - so £350 - if so that's a great price.?

I can't say exactly how much I paid but it was definitely a good price . I only needed a slave fitting so didn't need the whole kit (rest of the clutch had only done 1K miles and was AP branded). Car now has a slave from DMGRS in and it's got a very good pedal feel . It definitely would have cost me less than £350 for the whole kit fitted though, not a huge amount less but it would have been less.

Clutch Quote update
Many thanks for the suggested workshops where I might get my clutch replaced at a more acceptable cost.
I had been told that there was a firm in Derbyshire doing them as a special offer for a limited period at half the price I had been quoted. I couldn't track them down nor could I reach the 75 owner who had had his done recently. So I am particularly indebted for the lead to Marshall Performance Motors in Burton who have agreed to do my clutch next week for £340.00. They are still offering this price for a few more days so if your 75 clutch is suspect then act now and save a few bob! |
