I am afraid I would have argued the point

It seems a heck of a coincidence that you have the clutch changed, then the gear linkage falls off a month later.

Sounds to me like a lesson learned about that garage, you will never prove it was down to them but I think we all know it was.

Thanks, hope the people who live in this area take note. Have found a bloke down the road who charged £10 to adjust the handbrake. May try him for the upcoming MOT and service.
