Land-Rover 75? (VIS actuators)
Got my new VIS valve actuators in the mail yesterday. Was a bit surprised since they came in Land-Rover boxes?
I know the KV6 was used in the Freelander but are the VIS actuators interchangable? I know nothing about the KV6 Freelander but presume it was tuned slightly different to the 75 KV6? The supplier seems to be Britpart, the actuators themselves are German (can't remember the manufacturer's name.). Hope these are better than the ones on the car now...

These bits are interchangeable as is the inlet manifold.
Same for the units fitted to the KV6 2.5 and 2 litre 75 and ZT. |

Are these motors the same for each or is there a diffrent part number for both. When I went to Keiths the power motor had packed in on mine. Well I tested it with my own T4 and sure enough it was dead.
So I went looking for a new one but I cant figure out which one I needed etc. Plus will it make any diffrence to power and MPG as I think the car is already fast enough. |

All these parts are the same, they usually share the same part number except L/R add an L at the end

Will have a go at putting these Land-rover parts in on the weekend then. Anything special to remember while changing the VIS actuators or is it just a simple bolt off-bolt on job? I have the Haynes manual so will consult it, just thought if there is anything extra I need to know about.
Btw, my rover is nowadays just sitting in the garage... It works fine. I am building house at the moment and using my old XM as it has a tow-bar. And besides, the Rover is in too good condition to be wrecked on the building site. But still, the Rover is a bit too expensive a car to just have sitting in the garage. Any takers?

Fille, Remember to take the rubber gaskets off the old motors & put them on the new motors, as they don't usually come with them fitted.

mmmkay, changed the VIS actuators today, very easy and straightforward. And I could feel a real difference especially in the lower mid range. Good!
One thing though - the part number. The actuator that is more towards the front had number MKE 100100 but was replaced with MKE 100102. What's the difference?

No difference of any great significance...100102 superceded 100100 and had some very minor changes to the construction of the casing iirc...Stocktake will enlighten you further... |
