Forgot to mention, you will need your radio code if you disconnect the battery.

Keith - I've been following this thread and unfortunatley have nothing to add but I feel your frustration As T-Cut said a T4 may be the best way forward but do you have a specialists near-by and Howzatt may have a point? Let us know as soon as you get it sorted as there may be a lesson for us all to learn here!

Many thanks to all of you for your input.
May l ask a silly question but what symptons would you experience if it was a ECU memory failure, and if it is how do you correct it. Regards |

The ECU controls virtually everything, so if it gets corrupted (Getting wet for instance), the effects are unpredictable. Maybe yours is playing up, but I honestly doubt it. The repair of a 'broken' ECU is a specialist job and many people recommend the ECU Doctor (Google it). The ECU is very much like a computer and it can sometimes get its knickers in a twist, especially if it's got wet or you try to do certain actions too quickly for it to respond (it's no Pentium Duo!). The solution in such cases is often a simple reboot. That means disconnecting the battery for half an hour. On reconnection, the problem may go away.

Hello again to all
Its amazing what a petrol can and 5Ltrs of petrol can do, car started-up first time and runs perfectly. As mentioned fuel gauge was showing a 1/4 full but l had read on the website about the saddle tank layout causing problems but only applied to diesel, anyway thought that l would give it ago even though mine being petrol. Car started first time. will give a good run later today now that l have been able to get to a filling station and check things out. Many thanks to all for your contributions very much appreciated Regards K.J Last edited by Keith James; 24th June 2009 at 14:13.. |

Blimey - that's a relief Have you got a faulty gauge then and quarter full was in fact empty? My gauge stuck once on the ZTT soon after buying it some time ago. On a run it was reluctant to drop beyond 3/4 full and I thought I was achieving diesel type mpg! The following day started up and the tank showed under half full - never happened since
