Default Intermittent Starting

Hi guys, new to the forum, wonder if anyone can help.
I have a rover 75 2.5 v6 (petrol) 2001.(48,000 miles)
Recently been having intermittent starting problems. With the engine hot or cold, it sometimes just won't start. Turns over really well but won't fire.
Any advice gratefully received.

Do a search for 'FFS'. This is my quick find term fo the Fuel Filter Syndrome. Maybe you have symptoms?

If it is indeed the fuel filter that has come adrift, we have an easy-to-follow How-To just here: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/down...ile=tid005.pdf

Plenty of other technical documents and guides on the main homepages too (http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk).

Where's my manners ...... Welcome to the club!

Thanks for that. Because my car is a 2001, is it possible to tell, while it's in the car whether my filter is the new or old type. I understand the older type doesn't suffer from FFS.
My filter has finger loops on top of the white cap and the label reads:-

I think i've established that my filter is of the earlier type, so i'm going to try the cam sensor.

That is indeed the earlier filter design.

Could be Cam , but most people have reported this only happens on a hot engine. Certainly was on mine.
