Default Problems fitting VIS

I bought a set of VIS motors from ebay which were advertised as 'tried and tested' to replace my dud ones. Admittedly, I only spent 10mins trying, but I couldn't get the round peg to marry up to the arm on the power VIS motor. I tried sliding the arm from a all-the-way-in position to all-the-way-out in small increments but to no avail.

Before I start screaming "you've sold me a dud", is there a trick to replacing them?

Connect it to the wiring without fitting to the manifold, turn ignition on without starting and it should re initialise itself, then try

Thanks for the reply, I've just tried it but that didnt make any difference.

I did notice that the motor i received is different to the one advertised (even though the ad said the pic is of the actual item)... and it has a different part number! The most obvious is that the one I received has like a plastic 'bit' in the shape of the letter E near the round disc & peg but in the picture, it is flat. The original one in the car is flat too. Will that make a difference?

Morning Simon

The one in the picture is the later Power Vis MKE 100102 there are no operational differences in the later or early ones, both are interchangable.

If that is the picture of the actual motor supplied then it is possible it is in the correct rest position and so turning the ign on will not cause it to move. I have to say it is very close to over rotating though. I will try to explain:

If you look at the underside of the motor and stand the motor up so the cut out of the case is top left. The peg on the final drive you can see moves in an arc from around 8 oclock through 12oclock and round to 4 oclock. Perfect operation is 9 oclock to 3 oclock.

If the drive rotates past these points then the cam comes into contact with both microswitches at the same time and the Vis is useless until re set.

The correct position for the brown arm is as far over to the drivers side as it will go and the peg for the motor should drop in to the elongated hole.
