And you are only charged for the month/s that you use it. Joining fee is best as above through Eurotunnel, then you are charged the said toll, no extra, no less, at the end of the month. I.e. Only use it during August and that is all you are charged, along with the tolls you have run up. Easy easy.

I got sent details of an offer when I booked a crossing with the Channel Tunnel that saved me the cost of the little tag that goes on the windscreen but it was only 12€ or something and well worth it for the convenience!
Thanks! Well worth knowing, to save on the hassle!

Cheers

I now have one of these tags - very small. There are a lot of warnings on the packaging talking about fixing it to windscreen on the "black mottled area" I don't have that in my 75 (regular mirror - no rain sensing bits) - those that have used the tag can you tell me where you fixed it please and did you have any issues with it not being read due to placement?

Actually I don't really like sticking things to the car - stickers or anything - and was considering temporarily fixing it up there (or even holding it up at the toll!) - how sensitive is this to the placement of the tag?

(I guess I'll find out next week but it pays to be prepared! )

Thanks!

I use the tag regularly and have never had a problem, even just holding it next to the mirror. I must say though that the holder attached to the screen does make it easier just in case it gets lost amongst the clutter as you approach the barrier!!

So holding it up does work? I'll see how I go and might attach it if I get bored!!

you can just see mine stuck to the right of the rear view mirror in this picture, don't even notice it from drivers position and worked every time with no problems

I lodge mine between the mirror stalk and the windscreen. It stays in place and works fine. The only issue I have is that the whole system is relatively costly vs simply paying the cash toll, given the savings available to SANEF through more efficient payment collection I would have thought some discount similar to the Dartford Charge also run by SANEF would be appropriate.
Additional benefit is it keeps the alloys away from those high French kerbs.

But I'm told the rate is at the same as paying cash and it only costs a few Euros extra to have the unit - the conveneince of not having to stretch over the passenger seat to fiddle with cash time and time again (and yes those high kerbs!) is what made me go this way ...

tolls cost the same as paying cash, biggest advantage is that you can use the fast toll lane where you don't even need to stop... you just drive through at 15-20 mph
