dont worry about the 160 stepping out, with the right tyres on its fine. the only time it will happen is if you want it to or youre doing something silly and not respecting the fact its a rear wheel drive sports car

mine is a little beasty one but its never bitten me unless ive been teasing it to its limits........... and trust me the limits are remarkably high if the car is set up correctly

unfortunately i think the insurance will exclude the 160 from your shopping list, so for the minute forget the difference between the 135 and 115 and just get what looks the best buy for the money, you can always upgrade later if you enjoy the TF experience

join the tf groups on facebook, theres always cars popping up for sale

if we ever bump into each other at at show etc youre more than welcome to have a drive in my remapped 160 (as is anyone else) to see just what they are capable of

Try one with Bilsteins if you can. Makes quite a difference to the ride and handling.

My brother's 135 TF has been with and without them fitted and it is a much calmer ride on the motorway (and around town) as well as handling better.

Thats good to know i have heard of handling issues due to having the wrong tyres.

I think we'll definitely be priced out of buying a 160 although id love one, so 115 or 135's we'll look into and yeah can always buy an upgrade later

ah appreciate the kind offer, would love to take you up on that some day

well looks like the idea of buying a TF has gone down the pan.

Cannot get an insurance quote lower than £1k. All the classic car insurers are not interested due to her age. Multicar works out even more expensive (to be honest I've never seen a multicar policy work out cheaper).

Found a TF we like, have the money for it but it wont happen due to greedy ripp off insurance companies

Looks like insurance has gone up in general, as my renewal on all comparison sites has gone up by £200 from last year

Hate insurance companies.

Is an early 'F' a possibility or did you set your heart on a TF?
Just thinking an early non VVC F may be easier on the wallet to insure, although they're not quite as potent as the VVCs , you still get the wind in the hair experience

She has her heart set on a particular tf unfortunately. Its really nice, its monogram celestial with full leather half light seats with a cream dash and the 16inch straight spoke wheels. Decent mileage, local and the right price too.

We both prefer the looks of a tf to an earlier f so i think its either worth getting exactly what we'd like or to just not get one till later. Shame really.

The insurance on my 135(celestial) is £400+ 2000mls, age 60 9yrs NCD. I live in Liverpool and that unfortunately jacks the premium up.
Hope you get it sorted.
