Default 'Clicking' gearlever

I have just noticed an odd trait. Not life or death but a bit irritating - the base of the gearlever makes a loud clicking sounds when the pot stirrer is moved from one ratio to another - worse across the gate, but audible up and down too.

Sounds and feel like nylon grating against nylon. Does this need some lubrication or is something awry?

If you're sure it's coming from the base of the gear lever lift up the cover and have a look to make sure it's well lubricated. Easiest place to start

Managed to lift trim up and grease nylon ball (which had a blob of dried grease sitting lifeless on the top of the ball).

We now have peace.

I think I have exactly the same thing.

If I come out of 1st into reverse, and move the lever from all the way from the left (quite hard) all the way to the right then into reverse, it makes a sort of clicking/squeaking sound, and you can kinda of feel it through the gear knob.

I was freaking out that Id have to replace the linkage etc etc, but if it just needs grease, god ill be happy.

How do you get the gear surround off to access? It seems absolutely solid on mine.
