A good idea - but please remember that Le Mans is not a very large city and is likely to get booked up in no time at all for the date you mention! Advance booking is desperately important, otherwise you might have an hour's drive to get there.

I agree about booking early..... but I booked a couple of months before hand and there was plenty of car parking at the track where I was parked if sleeping in your car is an option......

Just thought I'd bring this thread back to life as I'm now looking at options for going to Le Mans.

Tickets are now on sale for the weekend of 14th and 15th June.

As SWMBO has given me the green light I'm thinking of doing what I did last yr.

If you need prices here's what I have got so far

P&O ferry from Dover on the Friday £45
1 night (Friday night) in the centre of Rouen about £37 (now booked)
1 night (Saturday night) in Le Mans car park £15
Le Mans ticket £46
1 night (Sunday night) about £37 (now booked)
Fill up with booze at one of the Hypermarkets (I'm still drinking the beer I got from last year.......
P&O return ferry on the Monday £35

Calais - Rouen is about a 2hr drive as is Rouen to Le Mans. This is a dual carrage way and hardly any traffic at all.

The hotel I have in mind also has free wifi internet access as there are no pubs open on the Sunday night

I have been a regular to Le Mans since 1986. However, the only exception that I haven't been to the great race was last year - 2007. Have travelled down in a Rover 75 MK1, a ZT 190+ but not in my present mode of transport.

The first time I went in the 75 was 2000. Did that car get some looks. Remember, at the time the car was still reletaively new to the market. Believe it or not I was getting more head turners than Astons, Ferrari etc.

So who intends going?
