Default Rover 75 fan rebuild

Got a question for those more learned than myself !!
Have a spare cooling fan which I thought Id rebuild with new bushes, pulled it apart and found 2 of the magnets in the casing cracked and loose but has a good armater (comutater?)
Also haver another old fan with a knackered comutater but good magnets and casing.
Can the comutater (the bit in the middle with windings on it) be removed ?
It obviously got a bearing but wondering if there is anyway of removing the bit the fan attaches to ?
It has a hex nut on it but not sure if its threaded.

The part with the windings is the armature and yes, you can remove it.

The commutator is the copper segmented part of the armature. The brushes are in contact with the commutator.

Make sure that you buy your brushes from here and not e-bay. Click on the reference to Rover 75 in the grey panel on the left of screen (ignore the incorrect description of 'heater').

Got the brushes from a company ECP ? Same guys as last time and seemed ok.
Just for the interest of those who are crazy enough to pull the whole fan to bits. SD1too is correct you can remove the commutator (centre bit with the wiring) BUT after trying on two old motors,I found trying to get the bit off that holds the fan onto the shaft is nearly imposible as it is made of die cast rather than steel and is very brittle (broke both bits even trying to press them off)
You can however belt the centre shaft back through the commutator and leave the fan attachment bit on the shaft (bit late for me now !!!)
Basically it comes out with the end bearing also on the shaft.
Unless you can get spare fan attachment bit to fit to the shaft think im up for a new fan.
Pitty as I could have made one good one !!
BTW,when dis assembling the fan cover, dont try to belt the tags holding the outsdie cover on as the magnets in the fan a very brittle and will crack easily, need to bend the tags if possible.

That's the one; Engineering Carbon Products.

As I said earlier Peter, the commutator is not the "centre bit with the wiring". That part is the armature.

In fact, a small piece of one of my magnets broke off when held in the vice. A firm of automotive electrical engineers said that the magnetic field would not be adversely affected, and they were correct! It's still working nicely to this day.
