Default Loss of power Rover 75 Cdti

Hi all,
I’ve searched the forum to find a solution to my loss of power problem without success. I hope I didn’t miss anything so I post this new thread.
As i said, I have got a power loss. When the car is cold, the tachometer pointer does not move while the engine seems to run normally. No fault anywhere showing on the dashboard. After a few minutes, the pointer goes up to 2000 RPM, no more. After reading some post here, I have cleaned the EGR valve but nothing changes. I also checked my fuses, swapped some of them, idem. I wonder if the valve Membrane is still doing the job but how to be sure? I removed the EGR valve and the air filter astarted the engine. Always the same symtoms. What is the next step now? MAF sensor, Intercooler seal, turbo hose?
Thank you for your help

Unplug the maf sensor and see if that makes any difference.

Hi Ratchet. Thank you very much for your help.
Bingo, it was the maf sensor. Actually, I thought this sensor was next to the EGR Valve. Is it fixable or do I need to buy a new one? Does it require the T4?

You can drive without it connected with no adverse effect other than a cloud of smoke on heavy throttle. Ive did this on all three of mine and MPG still ok. Of course best to change or upgrade. Make sure your air and pcv filters are changed i read that lack of maintenance in either or both can lead to failure of maf.

I’ve planned to change the air and Pcv filter as well as the EGR hoses which are a bit damaged. I now have a clean EGR valve. I will probably buy a new Maf sensor. I’ve found some at 30£ in a famous online shop. Do you think it is a good stuff?

To be honest with you,You will be far better off buying a genuine Bosch Maf sensor than a cheap Chinese knock off.The cheap one either dont work or go out of spec very quickly.

Do a search on here for the Bosch Maf and all will be revealed

Maybe take out your existing MAF sensor and clean it first. That might be all it needs.
