Discount MG Rover Spares stock the necessary parts (www.dmgrs.co.uk). I am about to embark upon fixing my failed alternator, so I will let you know how I get on.

This particular Alternator thread started in 2013.

Today in 2020 (Covid-19 time for the historians) I needed to decide on a replacement alternator or regulator replacement or just brushes or... sheesh, you get the idea.

Seven years after this particular thread was started this site has proven to be yet again an INVALUABLE source of information, be it current or from 1997 or indeed 2013 as stated above.

Without this club my car would be crushed and recycled by now.

I am in Australia. The state of Victoria to be more precise.
Here, the last Rover dealer went out of business in 2004-5 and no business has chosen to carry on with the brand.

Less than a handful of mechanics in my state will voluntarily even look at at a Rover.
Sixteen years without a dealer to speak of and a tiny shortlist of mechanics, most of whom are soon to depart this mortal coil describes my situation well.

But here. With this club, I have found not only what I was looking for but so much more. One could not possibly ask for more.

What a club.

Hoorah everyone. Hoorah!

Great post from a great country.
This thread helped me when my alternator failed several years ago as well.
You may be short on mechanics who will attend to your pride and joy but you have some wonderful scenery and the people I met where absolute dismonds.
Our youngest lives over there and it has been a joy when we have been over to visit.

The regulator is on its way.
I look forward to reviving the alternator in good time.

It's a privilege to live here. It is the lucky country after all.
