2001 (51) MG ZT+ 160 V6 - Solar Red - low mileage
For sale is my 2001 Mk I MG ZT+ 160 V6 saloon.
The car is presented in Solar Red, with a black and red part-leather interior. She has covered only 56,000 miles and drives as you would expect for this mileage, which represents an average of just over 3,000 miles a year. Condition-wise, the car presents very well. There are no dents to the doors or bumpers, and all trim pieces are present and correct. The 18 inch 'Hairpin' alloys are in excellent condition, having had a full refurbishment just last year. As often seems to be the case with red cars, there is some variation in colour between panels. This is most evident at the front, where the bonnet and front bumper has had a respray due to failing lacquer, but the front wings still have their original paint. The passenger side wing mirror cover has some lacquer peel and could do with a coat of paint. Inside, the interior is original and complete and in very good condition. Everything works as it should - all four electric windows, original radio cassette and air conditioning, which was re-gassed last year and is ice cold. There is some wear to the driver's seat side bolster and the adjacent door seal. Both take a bit of a hit when getting in and out of the car. Mechanically, the car is great. The engine starts and drives as it should, the V6 sounds great and really hits its stride with some revs. Clutch and gearbox are both positive and reflect the mileage, while the brakes are strong and pull up straight. We took the car to the south of France in September last year, covering 3,000 miles in 2 weeks with four passengers and luggage and she didn't miss a beat. In 30+ degrees in traffic and sat at a stable 80 on the motorway, it was both comfortable and economical, averaging 30mpg over the trip. Hard to ask for more from a 17 year old car! I would not hesitate to load her up and do the same again tomorrow. There is good service history with the car. The all-important cambelt was changed in April last year. She had two new Toyo tyres on the rear before we went to France. The fronts will also need replacing in the near future. The fuel tank straps were replaced in October last year. The rear suspension was rebuilt in July with new lower arms and coil springs on both sides. So, mechanically sound, drives really well, has a good reliability record, rarity and low mileage on its side. The paint would benefit from a machine polish and correction. The V6 sounds great and is a reliable unit in these cars. Interest and prices are on the up for the ZT and I can understand why. It stands out from the crowd of more modern cars and will become increasingly collectable as time passes. This particular car even more so, as it's a very early example (number 639 off the production line) and a rarer 160 V6 model. With an asking price of £1,795, the car is available to view now, 7 days a week. Any questions, please ask and thanks for looking. Last edited by dotgillingham; 17th April 2019 at 08:36..
