Hi, Brian has linked to what is normally known as a lower engine mount.
There are different types for petrol and diesel engines, make sure you get the right one.
the examiner probably saw that the rubber in the centre has split.

Next time you go out, lift the bonnet, get in and look at the top of the engine as you start it. It will probably look like it wants to leap out of the engine bay

Piece of cake to replace, just make sure the car is secure when raised. You might also want to support the engine under the sump, although the other two mounts should hold the engine in place. Put a block of wood on top of the jack to spread the load.
Two bolts, one to the sump, the other to the subframe.
Refasten the sump bolt to 45Nm, and the bolt to the subframe to 85Nm (Haynes manual).

Thanks guys. So many names for them i got my knickers in a right old twist.
far too much movement when putting foot on throttle and looking over door..Will have a peek tomorrow at the bush itself. Thanks for the tip on how to replace..

How much movement should there be with the driver side top bush/tie rods over by (but not the bush on ) the driver side strut.. With a tiny screwdriver i can get a fair bit of play but visually the rubber looks fine.. .

The part I linked to is the correct part for a diesel car.

It is quite simple to change, with rudimentary tools, a 15mm spanner or socket.

Assuming you have a jack and axle stands/ramp to lift the car, if not any garage should be able to change this part in less than 1/2 an hour, less if there is no undertray fitted to the car.
