Engines to be had for £150, how much would labour be on doing that?

Actually just thinking, you could probably pick a whole car up for £1000

I got my replacement engine fitted for £300 cash. I helped though as part of the deal.

The car has service history from the beginning, so if I was to get a replacement engine, then I would want history for it. Also the fact that I need a car for work, and only managed to borrow one for a few days, I needed to get a replacement car (sorry, but non-MG/Rover).

No longer a 75 owner as my tourer made it to the moon, and died on it's way back. But 1/4 million miles ain't bad.

Plenty of sensible mileage (sub 100k) diesels being written off nowadays due to a broken headlight/bumper, ideal to keep this one going for another 250,000 miles...

And before anyone suggests, NO - I don't want another project !!
Yes lots getting crushed for minor issues.
I was recently offered a black 84k 54 ZT cdti saloon with full sports leather and lots of goodies on it for £150 because the owner had been told he needed a new clutch and DMF and couldn't afford the repair.
Unfortunately I was in Norfolk when I got the call so had to say no and on my return to Weymouth I found out that it had been filled with old car parts and taken away for scrap.

You can't save them all, in fact some deserve to be saved, and others not so.

I was offered a 2002 connoisseur SE diesel tourer at the end of last week for £250.

As such I've not even bothered to see what it's like, based upon the fact it's only tested until the middle of June, it's arguably one of my least favourite colours wedgewood blue, and is approaching 200,000 miles.

The ZT you missed out on sounded nicer, but looking out of the window at the snow falling on the tourer sitting on axle stands on my drive, awaiting the fitting of it's replacement rear subframe, new upper and lower arms, leads me to think it's time for me to move on from this type of car.
