Default jatco auto limp mode

Hi I have a 2000 75 2litre which continually goes into limp mode. The oil has been changed, the ECU changed, the solenoids changed ( 2 had high resistance ) but the problem continues. I need to find a fix as here in Oz the 2 litre is rare as only 2.5 l were ever sold here. I have substituted a box from a 2.5 litre but it is not that satisfactory as with the different gear ratios it's performance on hills is not very good. Has anyone any ideas as to what else may be causing the problem? Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Hi Bob.

If you have the box out I think there is a filter in it, It is in the bellhousing end of the box.I do not know how much stripping down is required to get to it .

Do you get EP up on the gear display when it goes into limp mode? If so it could be a communication problem with the ECM.

They communicate on the CAN-bus so worth checking the wiring out.

I had a 2000 MK2 Ford Galaxy which has the same Jatco box, symptoms were revving and not pulling away, or shooting forward, banging into gear and not changing up or down.

It continuously went into limp mode, the diagnostics test gave fault with the torque converter clutch, it was quite a common fault on the early jatco box.
