Default Help. Stuck in France. Rover 75 tourer

Dear all
Im writing my first post since owning a Rover 75 tourer.
Unfortunately it’s because I have broken down on the border of spain / France.

I have nationwide roadside uk/eu assistance.
My car is in a garage and the French mechanic is going to try and fix or diagnose on Monday 15th Oct 2018.

I’m looking for any advice, guidance I can pass onto the mechanic to help him.

The problem:
When trying to change gear down or up from 1st, 2nd, 3rd, the engine seems to slump, almost like its flooded. The only remedy before it stalls is to rev harder and almost jump start again.

If anyone has any ideas or links to previous posts, that would help soo much.
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards
Richard Read

Depending on how handy you are with tools,I would firstly try and disconnect the MAF sensor and see if it improves.

You will need to remove the engine cover and you will see it at the rear, left of the air filter Just unplug the multi pin connector

Does it pull normally in gear or is it slow to accelerate?

To get accurate information you need to be as clear as possible in your assessments.

If not, you are going to get lots of guesses.------which won't help much.

Hi Billy.
No the engine light is not on.
Only when it stalls / stutters in gear change does it flash sign on the dashboard display (yellow sign) "Check Engine"
But.... there is not a permanent alert warning sign / notice light.
