Default CDT turbo spring mod?

Try as I might I can't find any post relating to the cdt 'turbo spring' mod I've heard about, can anyone point me in the right direction or post up a link.
Cheers.

Don't do it! the turbo is so small it lacks airflow, you wont gain much by messing with it.

AWwwww, and there I was hoping it was going to be a case of winding the actuator up a bit and getting warp drive for nowt!
I'll take your advice Trikey 'n' leave well alone then.
But just out of interest ... does this method really not work for a boost increase on the cdt? only asking as I'm sure I read somewhere else that three turns on the actuator was equivalent to about a 2psi increase !? or is that all wishful thinking?

Ive never tried it on a 75, but that method works on other turbocharged cars so I don't see why not. The key with the M47R is airflow.

I'm just toying with different ideas for an increase in overall performance and drivability, at some point soon I'm definitely going for a re-map.
Just curiosity that led me to asking about the spring mod as potentially it's free HP / Torque providing there's no drawbacks.

Regarding the airflow /efficiency on a cdt, I have removed and thoroughly cleaned the inlet manifold / all associated pipework and egr (which will be deleted very soon), installed all new filters including pcv, fitted Viton intercooler 'o' rings, what are the next most beneficial mods to do regarding air flow prior to having it re-mapped as Ideally would like the motor to be at it's best prior to the map being done.

I think that "spring mod" you're talking about only really applies to the ZS/45 diesel - on this board, anyway. Apparently, it is very effective in that application.

Cheers,

The L series owners generally just adjust the actuator length as it's somewhat easy to get too and change .

75/ZT owners are probably best off with a manual boost controller, there's a guide on here as I recall. It's a tad pointless on a stock ECU as they already have an excess of air

They can have all the air they want, as soon as it gets to the small turbo it stops flowing!

This is an actual one ..straight from R-ron . got it yonks ago, never got it to fit right.

Not a very advanced mod

the spring is very stiff and overstretched, basically no spring left in it

Not sure I quite understand what you're saying. Are you saying there's too much restriction due to turbo size so it's causing high EMP ? Or the compressor runs into the 'surge line' due to high pressure but lack of intake flow?

Either way from what I've seen when the ECU is tuned they react well with a lil bit of extra boost on stock turbo.
