2005 MG ZT - Immobiliser?
Hello all,
I have just brought the above car and am not at all mechanically minded. It drove just fine, I parked up then when I went to the car a couple of days later I thought that I had left the radio on and perhaps had drained the battery but I cannot jump start it at all. It doesnt even try to turn over, there are now no lights on the dash and it makes no sound whatsoever. The interior light will glow faintly. Please help!? Is this something to do with the immobiliser, if so, how do I go about fixing it. I live somewhere very remote and am a little stranded to say the least. Thankyou in advance for your replies Heather |

Sounds like a faulty battery to me. Rather than jump starting, swop the battery.

Try a known good fully charged battery as suggested. If that works but you get the same problem a few days later then we need more information to help you. Does your car have a diesel or petrol engine? If it is a diesel does it have a fuel burning heater? Do you have the factory fitted Satnav system? Problems with electronic devices not shutting down correctly when you pull the key out can cause the battery to go flat, so these need to be eliminated. Good luck and keep us posted. |
