Default Locking wheel nuts

Hi All,

My car has gone in today to have the alloys refurbished.
Just had a call from the company to say that the wheel nut locking tool has broken due to the fact that the nuts had been previously over tightened.
Obviously they cannot remove the wheels without the locking tool, does anyone know how I go about getting a new one and how do I know which one to get, the Wheel company says they can't see any numbers on the broken one so what do I do, any ideas Guys and Girls.

By the way the garage is over in Colchester about 20 miles from here so can't just get the old one and take it somewhere as I'm stuck at work and the garage will be closed when I finish!

If the locking wheel key is number 11 or 12 then you can hammer a 22mm socket over the wheel nut and undo it that way.

Hi,

When I asked the garage they said there was no numbers on the key, I shall ask them to check again!
Thanks for the speedy reply
I shall keep you all posted.

Not going to help, but thats not the "normal" #12 recommendation.

(which is annoying as I'm only 35 miles away with a #12...)

Doesn't even look to be an MGR locking bolt.

Out of interest... how much is the place in Colchester charging?

Hi All,

Apparently the BMW ones were replaced with Ford nuts towards the end of Mg/Rovers life :-(
The garage in Colchester is charging £55.00 per wheel, tyres off, chemical strip, undercoat, powder coat and finish.
Have brought the car back to Clacton and my local garage is now attempting to remove them, fingers crossed!

Hi All

Just to keep you all up to speed, my garage managed to get them off by welding the spinning part and then good old brute force to persuade them off.
Thanks Mark for all your efforts :-)
Now driven the car back (minus the wheel nuts) to the wheel company and will look forward to picking my car up with shiny new wheels soon.
I will post up pictures when I get her back.
Not going to put those rubbish nuts back on so if anyone has a set of locking nuts and removal key for sale please let me know, preferably the Mgr types !!
