My Dad's had another suggestion... I always park in gear, and so it's been pretty much permanently in gear for the last year and a bit. She's never laid up much (being my daily drive and all) but my Dad mentioned that I might of damaged the idlers (or something like that).

He's also had a look at the driveshafts and declared them working fine.

Suggestions?

EDIT - Mike, that quote comes to a little under £600 if I need both the master & slave replaced as well.

As you probably already realised is that you need to open it up to see what is going on.

Among all other possibilities it could be that your pressure plate is still working, but not applying enough pressure. Especially if you say you can engage all gears with or without the clutch applied. Is it with a running engine, then there is definitely a problem with the clutch (you shouldn't be able to engage a gear easily with a running engine...., and if the car would move and stall the engine probably). Unlikely: the springs in the dual mass flywheel are gone, one part could turn, they other not). Rob

Spot on mate. I had the same happen to me in an Iveco van of all things, pressure plate had disintegrated, pedal felt fine, could engage gears - but no drive at all.

EDIT - Changing gear is possible with or without the clutch, but harder without the clutch.

Could it be the Dual Mass Flywheel or the Centre ripped out of the Drive/Centre Plate ?

as i posted abouve i think it could be the center plate of the clutch.

unless the relase bearing has stuck on the shaft and is keeping the clutch pressed in

Yep, you beat me to it !

It wouldn't be the release bearing stuck in as that would affect the pedal pressure.
