Default When Fitting a 1.8 MLS Gasket

Can anyone tell me when fitting the new MLS head gasket do you tighten the head bolts to the same torque?

I seem to remember the torque setting is different when fitting the MLS gasket

I've not found a reference to a different torque setting, but since the new head bolts remain the same, I'd say the torque should remain the same too. This is because the standard setting puts the bolts on or near their elastic limit, which is by design. If you go above this, the bolts will lose tension and clamping will reduce. This section from an engineer's overview of the K18:

The metallurgy of this bolt has been very carefully designed and the torqueing at 64Nm brings the bolt to its yield point. Effectively the point at which the bolt will stretch with the block under its cyclic loading, to distribute these loads very evenly throughout the block.

Thanks for that, for some reason I thought if was different as the bottom rail is much more heavy duty and could cope with more stress.

I'll get tightening now then

See this thread http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...highlight=head
The question was about the 1.6 version of the k16 engine , but 1.4,1.6 and 1.8 versions are the same.
