Default key fob battery

This might sound a daft question, but is there a time limit to changing batteries in my key fob.
Thanks.

I read somewhere that 2 years was the time to change, also that you are warned with an instrument message that battery is low, others will confirm or otherwise.

The original manual advises changing every 3 years, a low fob battery warning will be displayed on cars fitted with message centre.

Did you mean time allowed to get the new battery into the fob after removing the old one?
I had a Ford Mondeo years ago that allowed only ten seconds to get the new battery in before the door code was lost.
I haven't heard of any such restriction with ours.

EDIT: Just did some reading. The advice seems to be it's safest to have the car unlocked and change the fob battery out of remote range. It shouldn't need to be re-synced, but if it does, press the unlock button four times when back in range.

You are correct in your assumption that there is no time limit after you have taken the battery out of the fob. Put battery in fob and then press either button around 4/5 times to synchronize the fob to the car.
