I think that needed to be done, if he was breathless, cant take chances. As you say, lets hope they get him sorted properly this time.

I'm frustrated at what's happening with Derek, I can only imagine what its like for Lilian and him. What is going on with the health services down there

It’s appalling how Derek was to have Oxygen therapy set up at home prior to discharge from hospital, then suddenly he didn’t need it and how he was sent home is shoddy and poor.

Hi Phill,
We have found the community nurse service not very good at all, my father was appointed this service back in March when he came out of Hospital. The Hospital had done a wonderful job looking after him, but the community nurse after-care service simply fails on all levels. The heart specialist doctor requested that my father have a nurse visit every two days for the first 6 weeks, that never happened.

After three weeks of waiting, the community nurse only came once a week. I had to get involved and speak with the Hospital, my fathers GP and social services. Eventfully the 2 day visit commenced, but this only lasted 3 weeks, so I was back on the phone again sorting them out.

My father still requires a nurse now, it has been 7 months and they seem to come when they feel like it. They are always giving excuses to why they are late, some days they dont even turn up. To be fair, all the community nurses are overworked, they look exhausted and are always in a rush (the service just doesn't work well at all).

I hope Derek doesn't experience the same poor service.

Pretty sure Derek is still at home guys and gals.
It does seem that his health care team are dragging their heels in making sure that he has all he needs to be comfortable at home though

Thanks Brian. Derek should be getting the special care that he needs. Let’s hope they are able to pull him out of this bad patch.
