Unhappy A Sad Day

Just sold my 75 CDTi. One of the saddest experiences of recent times.
Two factors forced may hand.

One was the endless sniping from younger members of the family about 'Dad still running that Dirty old Diesel' The youngsters really have swallowed the drivel spouted by that 16year old from Sweden!

The second was the charges for driving into London's low emission zones which will soon be extended and make visiting relations a costly hassle.

Goodbye all. I have enjoyed my time with the Rover and with this Forum

A sad story to read, but you are welcome to stay. Several members for varying reasons, have moved onto other marques such as Audi, Honda, Jaguar, Land Rover etc, etc and remain members because they have made friends in the club over the years. You said you enjoyed your time with Rover and the club, so hopefully you will stay.

If you don't agree with the younger ones why bow to them?
How often do you drive into London? What's the cost, £12.50?
The car you replace it with, how much is that going to cost to buy?

my wife changed her car a year ago as she said hers was too expensive to run, we are still out of pocket and will be next year.. and the year after... and the year after... and......
I wonder if she will still have this car when it is due to break even with her old?

Perhaps it is my mind set, but I don't get her thinking as it seems it is going to take so long to break even, let alone save money

Until the younger members of the family have their own kids and bear responsibility for them they have no right to an opinion. The increasing cost of London travel should be illegal unless it is nationwide. Presumably you have the privilege of voting for a new and differently minded mayor. Stop passing the buck young man, your excuse is not acceptable. But good luck.

Hang about, Ive not owned a MG ZT for approx 4 or 5 years and drive a lovely 2012 Golf GTD fully loaded and has the DSG box.
No need to stay away, plenty of decent folk on here.
Let us know how you get on with your new car and B***ks to all the rubbish spouted about diesels etc.

I know when the Birmingham strangulation takes place on ‘dirty’ diesels, i amongst others have vowed not to go into Birmingham to shop. These goons are turning towns and cities into ghost places for the future.

It takes an average of 10 years motoring to produce the same amount of CO2 as it does to build a new car, so in theory we should all be encouraged to continue to drive the ones we already have. I know I will.

I wouldn't go there on general principle, and even if I had no choice in the matter I'd just take Bones.

No pencil pushing t*t with a suit is going to stop me from driving what I want.

As for young-uns taking the mick? Well:

The bus stop's over there ----->

Getting a bit sick and tired of the Saint Greta of Thunderbirds travelling farrago.

Not so much the girl's fault; she suffers Aspergers and her obsessive view of climate change is symptom of that. I blame the parents and the shady organisations bankrolling her travels around the world.

She does look like the b@stard love child of Wednesday Addams and Ross Kemp.

Overlooking the breaches of club rules FAQ2

2. You may not use obscene language within the forums. These forums use a swear filter that will delete words contained within its list. The system works by replacing the offending word with a series of asterisks. However, we have a lot of children that read the forums, generally with a parent or the slightly older ones on their own. Parents can have some difficulty in explaining what all the *** words are and more so those that are typed in e.g. t**t. In light of this and our determination to ensure these forums are suitable for any age group to view, you must also not attempt to evade the swear filter by any means including:

I see it how now descended into pathetic and petty insults against children.

Closed gentlem.... Well clearly not gentlemen.
