Crashed this morning,what to do.
Hi all,
After 14 months of a owning my splendid 75 estate, I crashed this morning. I couldn't avoid on oncoming car that had crossed a solid white line round a hilly bend. Best I could do was keep hard over, avoiding a stone wall and trees, I made enough of a gap for the oncoming overtaking driver, she didn't make through though the gap , perhaps for the same reason she failed the breathalyser test. The 75 kept stable, took the impact on the Front headlight , rear nearside quarter clipped the wall as it torqued round, I came to rest dead straight a few metres further on. Airbag didn't deploy though. I was well shaken, and boy does the adrenaline really flush through the body, no major injuries to report so far, despite a precautionary trip to A&E , but I feel like I've been lifting weights all day. So what happens next? I've to make a statement to the police tomorrow, their interest seems to be in prosecution of the other driver. I guess the Insurance assessor will want to write the rover off at 12 years old and less than 100K on the clock, but it was driving like a dream, a genuine pleasure to drive. I'ld like the time to get decent replacement over from the UK/NI (thats how I acquired my 75 to begin with ). Theres a club member nearby in a near identical estate has probably had the spare parts jackpot, especially as he's been looking for an auto box. Anyway, bit of a sad day,the loss of the nicest car I ever owned but at the same time I was glad to be in it at the time. Niall

Im terrible sorry to hear about your pride and joy. Main thing is you are still here with us to tell of the story. Hopefully the insurance wont write her off and you will be back driving around in her.
Solid white lines are not to be crossed under any circumstance from what i remeber of the highway code :/

Sorry to hear the news of the damage to your car but at least your ok and walked away from the horrible accident .
The police will be after your statement so they can prosecute the idiot driver . Insurance companies write cars off for a past time , mainly due to the labour costs to repair your car .... It's a sad day for you but your car has done its job fantastically .... You walked away from a nasty accident .

This is such a frustrating situation!
Like others, I echo the fact that the main thing is you're Ok. Still, it won't bring your pride and joy back which is the most annoying part of the situation. I think when incidents like this happen - the other driver being clearly in the wrong; crossing a white line and over the limit, that insurance companies should bring the car back up to scratch no matter what. Even if it is an 'old' car - you have maintained it meticulously and the price it costs to repair should be applied to the other drivers premium! Grrrrr!

Yet Again...
Another one to be written off...It looks like you have some delayed injuries to show themselves as yet, see what kind of night you have! If you wake with muscle pains you got hurt and you should see your Doctor asap..I've let a few idiots off without making claims against them but, if you get pain you should make a claim against them, as she was drunk you won't have a problem making your point. Go for it, the money will replace your car...
