Default Abbey Road

It was 50 years ago today The Beatles Abbey Road was available to buy.

I remember going to a School Disco in 1969 just after the Album was released and a couple of guys put the Album on and we ALL listened to it from start to finish.

(Edit - thanks for the correction - it is of course 1969, not ‘79 as I first inadvertently posted)

I was with a cooky blond girl with bubbly hair who loved the music as much as I did. I remember thinking “is it likely to get much better than this?”

50 years later I would say - “ probably not “

you really should give it a try. it will put you into a good mood.

My father was a massive Beatles fan, and had all and still does of their albums, released when they were together (first releases too). I brought Abbey Road album cover into school for some reason, taking incredible care of it, until I got off the school bus. It wasnt until I got home I realised I had left it behind. I was devastated. Bawled my eyes out. Fearing my dad being upset, but he wasnt. It didnt bother him, he didnt like it, and only had it to complete the set lol. I still feel bad, and bought him a few years ago, all the albums on CD to make up for it.

Still have most of the Beatle's LP's including Abbey Road, haven't heard much since that can touch them.
Only problem is my record player no longer works.

Cool

I remember when the album was released. Never really got into the Beatles, having said that I loved the Rubber Soul album. I was more into the Beach Boys style music.

Someone bought this album for my twin brother and I for our birthday in the October, it was our first album. Always thought Maxwell's Silver Hammer a bit disturbing.
Next album I bought was Deep Purple in Rock and it was downhill after that.
