Unfortunately that does not cover you in the least...

I have made the same offer to members in the East Anglia region and after much umming and arring it boils down to 5 requirements.

I have 2 million pounds worth of public liability insurance included on my existing buildings insurance.
I need to train and explain the use of any non hand tools that people may borrow.
I do not carry out any actual work on peoples cars (only explain or give facilities).
I do not charge for the use.
Tools, equipment and buildings are in safe and serviceable condition.

I have opened myself to 2 Saturdays a month, tea and bad jokes are free, you bring the bickies.

the reason I am offering this is that my workshop is standing empty 95% of the time which is a real waste.

so if you have an exhaust to fit or what have you then let me know

You beat me to it I was only talking to Mark2000 at the Sherwood forest meet about going to make the same kind of offer in a week or so , having only moved to a property 2 weeks ago that has a great double garage with power and water etc..no pit unfortunately , so I might as well say the same if anyone needs a garage to work on there car in the Bedfordshire and surrounding area feel free to contact me ......

There is a guy in my neck of the woods up here on the east coast of Scotland that rents out his workshop including a large selection of tools including air tools, bench drills, welding equip and a ramp. He makes it available for £10 an hour (not free but cheap) and is usually around to give advice and an extra pair of hands if needed. It's available between 5pm and midnight Mon-Fri and all day at weekends.

If anyone around these parts ever needs use of the facilities, send me a msg and I will pass on his number.

Excellent! I'll bear you in mind, nothing worse than working under the car in the rain!

On the subject of insurance when arranging a meet at the Coventry transport museum (great venue) last year I was made to take out public liability insurance to cover the meet and also have traffic marshals as we were parked out front in a public place not a car park.

No insurance no meet. It's worth checking just to cover your self.

Good luck and thanks for a great offer

Public liability insurance the clue is in the name 'public' not your mates. Someone can sue you for just about anything if they are sad enough , it doesnt mean they will win and they would be liable for costs if they didn't. If you are tinkering with cars socially with a friend and have house insurance it really isnt somerthing to worry about. Lets not get too hung up on 21st century mumbo pleeeeease.
