How Does It Work?
How does the little light work in the spare wheel well of a Tourer, should it just come on when you lift the floor? do you need the lights on? or the ignition? I've tried all combinations & nothing happens or is it just a broken wire where the floor hinges?

It's on the same circuit as the interior lights..
So first, check the interior lights are not turned off on the front light, The loadspace lamp should work when evr you lift the board. if the interior lights are on, then check you've got a +ve feed to the lap holder.

Talking of tourer load spaced covers. Just a little thing I noticed at the weekend when lifting the load space cover to get some bits out. The underside of the grab handle (i.e. on the underside of the spare wheel area cover is a Mercedes part, complete with MB star symbol.
My light comes on whenever I lift the cover by the way. |

The interior lights all work so it's got to be a snapped wire or similar thanks for the info, tonight's project

Change the bulb first as the cap less bulbs are not the most reliable... The wire runs from the orange header under the drivers A pillar, down the sill into the loadspace

FIXED IT I started to look for a break where the hinge is & discovered a wire sticking out from behind the black polystyrene stuff at the side of the well pulled & lo & behold it was the live wire complete with terminal which had been removed from the plug located in that corner, opened the plug, refitted the wire, plugged it in & hey Tesco it works
