A Rover 75 or ZT that needs urgent remedial work at this time of year is frustrating. The cold dark days do not help, especially if like myself, you’re stuck at a desk between 9 to 5 during the week as it only leaves weekends. It’s also harder if you don’t have another car you can use in the meantime, so I understand your frustration.

However, anything can be put right with a little time and patience. My Tourer has a sunroof (I love a sunroof, it was an essential when I was looking for a tourer), and a couple of months after purchase two and a half years ago, it became clear that I had huge volumes of water in and under the carpet. This was traced to the passenger front, and passenger rear sunroof drain points where the tubes go through the bulkhead and rear arch. After following the superb Arctic post on sunroof drains, the tubes were modified, duck-bills cut and the carpet removed from the car and dried over the course of two weeks. Admittedly, this was in September 2015, so it was still fairly pleasant weather-wise, so I don’t envy you the task at this time of year. However, it was straight forward with the guide to follow, and it gave me the opportunity to give the interior a thorough deep clean. Over two years later, the inside of the car is still dry as a bone, and I no longer get condensation on the inside of the windows. It was also very rewarding to know that I had completed the work on my own without involving a garage.

Give it a go. Best of luck, but if your car has a sunroof, which is sounds like it does, it seems obvious where the leaks are coming from but they can easily be solved.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

I have had 3 75’s along with newer and more modern models. Each had there own ‘features’ which as the owner you learn to live with. Are our cars more or less reliable than cars made between 1998 and 2004 I believe not. What this forum and others allow us .... is the sharing of knowledge permitting us many more years of enjoyment.
Just as an aside I’ve yet to have s frozen door which is difficult open on the 75 .... but have had that on a Mercedes and Citroen cars along with the repair bill to match!!

The problem with a car model forum is most people will not come on here and say '' there has not been anything wrong with my car today and it has performed perfectly''

On the other hand as soon as there a problem you will be on here saying '' my $£%^"£ has failed how do I fix or replace it'' And of course this makes us all think these cars are always having problems. It is exactly the same on any forum.

Very useable cars every day and just recently very good in the snow with my winter tyres fitted.
We rely on all 3 cars. If they were less than reliable or gave us problems they would be replaced. I dread to think with what exactly but as time goes by they will inevitably be replaced with best I can find, Rover or otherwise.
In answer to the OP they are by no means dead ducks yet.
