Evening all, been nice day today, was still cold at Carter Bar though, never been there on a warm day yet.

Evening everyone, I bought flying Scotsman in the dovetail games sale last night for the princely sum of 2 quid , I'm just trying it out and I'm just going to depart from Reading to London with a Scotch & water swilly in hand.

Good morning Ian, good morning all, how is everyone?
Weather report for Nairobi is a change. The past week we had heavy rains and thunderstorms with a drop in temperature from 30C+ to around 20C-25C this week. I won’t miss those high temperatures. Our coldest month is July when it drops to 17C and it should be warming up in the UK I am due to see the eye specialist on Thursday 23rd this week. I have been keeping up with the eye care of eye drops and eye ointment to the eye ball 4 times a day. The vision is still good but the pain from the nerve endings on the scalp come and goes. I am hoping the ulcers on the cornea have gone away, with good news from the specialist. A bit of a strange man. During my last appointment, he asked if I was a Muslim or a Christian. He said in his religion my health problems are called blessings. I told him in that case, I must be like the Virgin Mary |

Morning Phil I hope you're well Sir , Yeah I cant cope with hot sunny temps, We've got a high of 16C here in this neck o the woods today, perfect temps for my liking.
I glad to hear your eyesight is improving, I was on another forum last week were a chap was asking if there was a immunisation jab available for shingles. I was mentioning your condition to him and he was aghast at the thought of it in his eye like yours was. Speaking of nerve endings damage I have that in my back & legs, can hardly drive with my right foot any more It's painful to hold my right foot in the position for the accelerator, getting used to driving with my left foot only (auto car) was a challenge at first, try using your left foot for the accelerator He put me on Gabapentin 600mg which helps greatly.

The Shingles vaccine is costly. The NHS issues it to those 70+ or to the ones who are considered frail/vulnerable. Private vaccination for shingles costs £150-£170. Why it is so expensive, I don’t know. The past 4 days, I have not had to take any opiates for the pain. All of that is encouraging. The shingles vaccination is worth asking about because it’s a painful condition and if it gets into the eye, it can cause glaucoma, damage the retina, or go onto blindness and it can be fatal if the shingles virus gets into the brain. Considering that, in some ways, I have been lucky...... positive thoughts |
