Default Vibrating front brakes - AGAIN!

Hi all,

I have to admit that I am starting to get a bit frustrating about this.. Short story:

There has always been some vibration in the steering wheel when applying the brakes on my 1.8 at speed. The discs looked fine and the pads had approx 50% meat left. I replaced the discs and pads in June and the vibration disappeared, but has gradually came back and is now as bad as it was before the replacement. Pagid pads and discs where used. Calippers and gliders was cleaned and lubricated and everything seems to move smooth.

So, has my new discs been warped or is there other issues to check out?? I really don`t wanna swap the discs another time just for fun.

I had the same issue on my V6 a year ago, fixed in the same manner with the same parts and has still super smooth braking.

All help is greatly appreciated

Is your 1.8 an auto box?

I had same issue and changing disks and pads rectified it for a while but it turned out to driveshaft inner cv joint.
Reason question about auto was I've seen it before when people hold footbrake on hot discs at traffic lights causing warping but as yours is a manual I'm guessing you don't do that

Have you set up a measuring indicator running on the disc to check warp whilst slowly turning the hub? If so what was the axial runout?

Did you also clean the hub-surface before fitting the discs?

The smallest amount of debris on the hub before fitting discs can lead to brake judder over time

I had the same on my ZS, and it was a dodgy hub. In the end I couldn't get to the bottom of it and replaced the hub, and it was fine since. Could have been a wheel bearing making it run out of true I suppose.

sounds like run out on the hub to me.needs looking at b4 fitting any more discs.mind you if the hub is out and when that is sorted perhaps the discs on the car could be skimmed as they are quite new.depends how much they charge in your part of the world to see if its worth doing

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. I will do some measuring on the disc face and hub face to check the runout. It could be a hub/bearing issue for all I know. I thing everything was perfectly cleaned before I assembled the discs, but everything can happen
