Changing Reversing Light Switch

Hi Chaps, I need to change the above switch on my manual facelift as sometimes the reserving lights and sensors work and other times they dont. I know where it is but will I loose gearbox oil when taking the old one out?

I got mine off eBay for £6 inc delivery and landed with me in 2 days

It was a swine to remove as the tab that holds the plug on was facing the box and not outwards and with hands like shovels, it made for a interesting job!

Managed to get it sorted though in about 30mins

Ideally a deep 19mm socket is best but I used a think 19mm open spanner and managed to get it undone easy enough

Have a good light source as it's fairly dark under there!

Just rung my local MDC, £6.95 and I will pick it up on Saturday. I changed one on my Mk1 years ago using a 19mm open ended spanner or ring spanner as none of my sockets were deep enough. I even think I did it without removing the wheel but it was so long ago I could not remember whether I would loose oil or not. It's just annoying when it plays up as it worked yesterday when I backed out of the vets car park yesterday morning but didnt work last night and its working again this morning.

My switch stopped working about three years ago. I took it out and pinged the plunger up and down a few times. Been working perfectly ever since.

Yes,the number of actions is very limited .so the microswitch is never dead

Only the rod is a bit shorter .
